MINUTES OF CITY COUNCIL

MENNO, SOUTH DAKOTA

March 7, 2005

 

The purpose of this meeting was to open quotes for brome hay, set pool manager’s hours and wages and to hire lifeguards and set their wages.

 

Present at this meeting were: Councilmen Dennis Aisenbrey, Galen Guthmiller, Gary Herman, John Huber, Jerome Kotalik, Darrell Mehlhaf,  and Finance Officer Peggy Thranum.

 

Council President Aisenbrey called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM.

 

All councilmen answered roll call except Mayor Tolzin.

 

Huber made a motion to approve the agenda. Herman seconded, all present in favor.

 

Two quotes were received for the brome hay-Terry Auch, $262 and LueAllen Neuharth, $275.

Kotalik made a motion to award the brome hay quote to LueAllen Neuharth for the 2005 season for $275. Huber seconded, all present in favor.

 

The pool committee recommended setting the pool manager’s hours at up to 30 per week and paying her $7.50 per hour. Guthmiller made a motion to set Pool Manager Amie Fischer’s hours at up to 30 per week and to pay her $7.50 per hour. (She will run the concession stand separate from the city, but agrees to sell pool passes.) Mehlhaf seconded, all present in favor.

 

The pool committee recommended hiring all applicants and paying the returning full-time guards $6.75 and the new full-time guard $6.50.

 

Herman made a motion to hire the following as full-time lifeguards and to set their wages at the rates following their name: Julie Bender-$6.75, Joseph Block-$6.75, Jessica Wentz-$6.75, and Jessica Block-$6.50. Mehlhaf seconded, but made an amendment to the motion to hire sub-lifeguards as needed at $6.50 per hour if they are certified and $6.00 per hour if uncertified. Huber seconded, all present in favor.

 

Discussion was had on writing a personnel policy for the City of Menno. This will be worked on after the ordinances are completed.

 

Huber moved to adjourn at 7:55 p.m. Guthmiller seconded, all present in favor, motion carried.
