Alderman ________________________ introduced the following ordinance and moved for its adoption:

ORDINANCE NO. 2005-2.  AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCES NO. 150 and 158 BY CHANGING AND AMENDING APPENDIX "B" TO SAID ORDINANCE TO CHANGE THE MINUMUM RATES AND THE RATE PER 1000 GALLONS.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF MENNO, SOUTH DAKOTA, that Appendix "B" of ordinances No. 150 and 158 be changed to read as follows:

APPENDIX "B"

RATE SCHEDULE

                All users discharging normal strength wastewater shall be billed monthly for each sewer connection.  The monthly charge for sewer shall be the greater of $10.00 per month or at rates based on the user’s monthly average water use.  Monthly average water use shall be based on the monthly average of the user's latest prior winter quarter  (January, February and March).  Users not showing a prior winter quarter water charge will be charged based on their lowest quarter usage or in default of a prior quarter usage, then based on their actual monthly usage.  The monthly charge for water based on a user’s monthly average water use shall be at the rate of  $1.54 per 1,000 gallons of water for the first 6500 gallons of water used and at the rate of $1.25 for all gallons of water used over 6500 gallons.

                Multiple family dwellings and apartments shall be billed monthly, based upon actual occupied units as if each occupied unit had a separate sewer connection, regardless of the number of sewer connections. 

                Mobile Home Courts shall be billed monthly, based upon occupied trailer stalls as if each occupied trailer stall had a separate sewer connection, regardless of the actual number of sewer connections.

                Any user with BOD and SS greater than 200 mg/1 BOD and 250 mg/1 SS will pay a surcharge in accordance with the rates shown in the surcharge rate structure.

*mg/1 = milligrams per liter = parts per million (ppm)

Alderman ___________________ seconded the motion.

Upon roll call vote, Dennis Aisenbrey, Galen Guthmiller, John Huber, Jerome Kotalik, and Darrell Mehlhaf voted aye. No one voted nay. Ordinance #2005-2 was unanimously adopted.
