MINUTES OF MENNO CITY COUNCIL
Special Meeting
October 16, 2008
Present at this meeting were: Mayor Larry Tolzin, Councilmen Dennis Aisenbrey, Galen Guthmiller, Jerome Hoff, Jerome Kotalik, Darrell Mehlhaf and Finance Officer Peggy Thranum. Councilman Jerry Fischer was absent. Bill Headley and Todd Hertz were also present.
Mayor Tolzin called the meeting to order at 5.35 p.m.
Hoff moved to approve the agenda. Guthmiller seconded; all in favor.
Mehlhaf moved to hire Todd Hertz to clean out the drainage ditch to correct the water flow problem along Jackson/High Streets. The water will move to the south. Kotalik seconded; all in favor. Hertz left the meeting at 5:40 p.m.
Even though there will be no dance this year, they will be selling beer, so a policeman will need to be hired by the Oktoberfest committee. Aisenbrey moved to approve the Temporary Malt Beverage Permit for Oktoberfest to be held at the Menno City/School Gym on October 23, 2008. Guthmiller seconded, all in favor.
Guthmiller made a motion to hire Galen Heckenlaible as restricted use site manager and as relief help for the police department. He also moved to give Chief Hento the authority to hire temporary help for a night as he sees fit. Mehlhaf seconded; all in favor. Wages for these positions were set in the 2008 Salary Resolution in January.
Aisenbrey moved to adjourn at 5:48 p.m. Mehlhaf seconded, all in favor.
