We need volunteers that know how to interview, as this is one of the “workshops” for students, giving them experience for a real job interview. Twenty colleges will be invited to attend.
Committee Reports: The web page report is in the packets. The page continues to be updated as Liebl receives information. We received 1,556 hits this month.
The car show was deemed successful with 62 entries. There are no plans to change the date at this time.
Brent Haberman reported a meeting would be set up after harvest with the party that has expressed an interested in the motel property.
The committee has spoken to the Aisenbreys about the grocery store, but have nothing to report to the group at this time.
Dennis Aisenbrey stated the Menno-Olivet Development Corporation was formed 20 years ago for the sole purpose of keeping the Menno Clinic going. They have expressed a desire to turn the ownership of the Menno Clinic building over to the Menno Area Development Corporation. They paid around $40,000 for the property. A few years ago they did a $41,000 remodel job. The furnace and air conditioner are new as is the roof. The loan left to pay at the bank is $12,766 paid in $100 monthly installments. Rent is paid each month and the only expenses, besides upkeep, are real estate taxes and insurance. Freeman Regional takes care of the yard and utilities. By doing this, they would then dissolve their corporation. Larry Tolzin made a motion to accept responsibility for the Menno Clinic from the Menno-Olivet Development Corporation. Jeff Liebl seconded, all present in favor; motion carried. Aisenbrey will take our decision back to his board.
Our next meeting will be October 18 at the Open Door Café at 12:00 noon.
Wesley Schaeffer made a motion to adjourn at 12:50 p.m. Cindy Aisenbrey seconded, all present in favor.
Respectfully submitted,
Peggy Thranum, Secretary
