The Menno Area Development Corporation held their regular meeting December 16, 2008 at the Open Door Café with the following present: Peggy Thranum, Wilma Liebl, Morna Anderson, Bill Headley, Nancy Larsen, Darlene Mehlhaf, David Bender, Marsha Schelske, Brenda Edelman, Brent Haberman, Donna Zeeb, Shannon Herrboldt, Bruce Anderson, Connie Knodel, Teresa Anderson and Ken Bertsch.

David Bender called the meeting to order at 12:20 p.m.

Marsha Schelske moved to approve the agenda. Shannon Herrboldt seconded; motion carried.

Ken Bertsch moved to approve the minutes and finance report. Brenda Edelman seconded; motion carried.

SEFT REPORT: Nancy Larsen took part in a web seminar that encourages “training your brain” to see the opportunities or the positive in situations. Training is encouraged as Dun & Bradstreet says, “90% of failed businesses lack skill and knowledge.” Your business should be customer focused because without them, you don’t have a business.

CHRISTMAS LIGHT EXTRAVAGANZA: A full-page ad came out in the Area Wide Connection today explaining our lighting contest and featuring ads from 17 local businesses. “Horton Hears a Who” will be the free movie shown at the old gym on December 20 with free pop & popcorn donated by an anonymous Santa.

WELCOME WAGON: Teresa Anderson asked businesses to contact her that would like to be included in the Welcome Wagon.

BUSINESS: The consensus of the group was to wait until most of the Community Guides are gone before we do another one.

Our next meeting will be January 20 at 12 noon at the Open Door Café.

Teresa Anderson moved to adjoin at 12:30 p.m. Darlene Mehlhaf seconded; motion carried.

Respectfully submitted,

Peggy Thranum, Secretary
