Menno Area Development Corporation

The Menno Area Development Corporation met for its regular meeting August 18, 2009 at the Open Door Café with the following present: Peg Thranum, Darlene Mehlhaf, Bill Headley, David Bender, Arlene Bertsch, Cindy Aisenbrey, Morna Anderson, Larry Tolzin, Marsha Schelske, Judith Headley, Nancy Larsen, Brent Haberman, Shannon Herrboldt, Teresa Anderson, Kevin Edelman, Ken Bertsch, Dennis Aisenbrey, Donna Zeeb and Dale Weiss.

 

President Weiss called the meeting to order at 12:15 p.m.

 

Bender moved, Schelske seconded, to approve the agenda; motion carried.

 

Tolzin moved to accept the minutes as amended: Brent Haberman and Cindy Aisenbrey are part of the Housing Committee. Teresa Anderson seconded; motion carried.

 

Bender moved, Tolzin seconded, to approve the finance report; motion carried.

 

SEFP REPORT: Nancy Larsen presented the Supplement to the 2009 Annual Report. The featured business is Wek Insulation Service LLC, owned by Ardon and Sheila Wek.

 

Committee Reports: Car Show –Herrboldt has ordered trophies. He got free registration slips from AutaBuy and Menno State Bank will donate Menno Money for longest distance. Any business that would care to donate door prizes is encouraged to get them to Shannon Herrboldt or Dale Weiss.

 

Herrboldt moved to sell the car show t-shirts for $5 each. Mehlhaf seconded; motion carried.

 

Housing – Judy Headley visited with another landowner, but has nothing new to report. The housing committee will meet August 31 at 5 p.m. at the Care Center.

 

Weiss welcomed Barry and Debra Schmidt and family to Menno and encouraged everyone to stop at the grocery store and welcome new manager Shawn Black.

 

Business – Ken Bertsch moved to sell the small shed on the High Street property to Clyde Mettler for $50. Cindy Aisenbrey seconded; motion carried.

 

Schelske moved to purchase a digital camera for MADC. Cindy Aisenbrey seconded; motion carried. The camera will be used to take pictures of events so they may be posted on our web page.

 

Bender moved to have the September 15 meeting at 12 noon at the Open Door Café. Schelske seconded; motion carried.

 

Cindy Aisenbrey moved to adjourn at 12:35 p.m. Herrboldt seconded; motion carried.
