Menno Area Development Corporation

The Menno Area Development Corporation met for its regular meeting January 19, 2010 at the Open Door Café with the following present: Wilma Liebl, Bill Potts, Darlene Mehlhaf, Bruce Anderson, Bill Headley, David Bender, Nancy Larsen, Judy Headley, Shawn Black, Donna Zeeb, Brent Haberman, Shannon Herrboldt, Arlene Bertsch, Marsha Schelske, Dale Weiss, Ken Bertsch and Jerome Hoff.

 

President Dale Weiss called the meeting to order and introduced Bill Potts who is the new Country Pride manager at Menno.

 

Bender moved, Schelske seconded, to approve the agenda as presented; motion carried.

 

Liebl moved to approve the minutes as presented, Mehlhaf seconded; motion carried.

 

Judy Headley moved, Hoff seconded, to approve the finance report; motion carried.

 

SEFP REPORT: Larsen reported Dale Weiss is the new SEFP board president. She stated the new 2010 SEFP area includes McCook County as well as Turner County and the cities of Tripp and Menno in Hutchinson County. SEFP services remain the same: educating the entrepreneur on the basics of business, developing and packaging their business plan which includes financial projections for 3-5 years into the future, based on past performance and/or fixed costs and helping with grant writing. Larsen is currently working with 18 clients, 2 in McCook County.

 

Housing – There was no report as the committee’s next meeting is January 25 at the Care Center.

 

Business – Weiss reminded the membership to help support SEFP by giving Nancy’s name out to those who are talking about starting their own business, or mention that they want to expand, or maybe could use some help retaining their business. He also asked the membership to mention her name to those who may be thinking of retiring and would like someone to take over and retain their business.

 

Our next meeting will be February 16 at 12 noon at the Open Door Café.

 

Herrboldt moved for adjournment, Schelske seconded; motion carried.
