Menno Area Development Corporation

The Menno Area Development Corporation met for its regular meeting March 16, 2010 at the Open Door Café with the following present: Peg Thranum, Bruce Anderson, Nancy Larsen, Morna Anderson, David Bender, Bill Headley, Judy Headley, Shawn Black, Arlene Bertsch, Donna Zeeb, Jerome Hoff, Teresa Anderson and Dale Weiss.
President Dale Weiss called the meeting to order at 12:15 p.m.
David moved, Judy seconded, to approve the agenda as presented; motion carried.
Donna moved to approve the minutes as presented, David seconded; motion carried.
Shawn moved to pay $1000 toward the principal on the clinic loan, Jerome seconded; motion carried.
Jerome moved, Judy seconded, to approve the finance report; motion carried.
SEFP REPORT: Larsen reported good attendance at the Career Fair in Centerville on February 17 despite the bad weather. Six of the two hundred students attending answered all the CSI (Community Service Investigation) questions correctly after visiting with 30 of the 38 booths (26 businesses and 12 college/technical) and will each receive a $100 Savings Bond for their efforts. A Regional Career page is under construction so information and pictures of the event can be shared with visitors to the www.sefp.com web page.
Housing – Judy reported receiving 53 housing surveys. The committee will go through them at their March 29 meeting at the Care Center. She stated the one thing that stood out was the desire to have the units’ non-smoking, even if none of the other questions were answered!
Business – Weiss stated the investor’s received a favorable report from Menno Food Market’s second year in business.
Our next meeting will be April 20 at 12 noon at the Open Door Café.
Judy moved for adjournment at 12:35 p.m. Teresa seconded; motion carried.
