Sioux Falls was attended by 26 participants. There is new activity in
McCook County.
SEFP has a list of questions to ask the local business owners for the
"Enterprising Entrepreneurs" program. This is for tips and advice to
assist them in business practices. Jerome will ask Peg to add this to
next month's agenda.
Committee reports
Housing report-we are still working on the details. "Slow progress"
according to Shannon Herrboldt. The next committee meeting is June 7th.
Old Business- The Menno-Olivet CDC Fire Department's request for funds/
Jaws of Life. Ken Bertsch noted this is legal to request funds and it is a
worthy cause but this is not our objective or goal. Ken made a motion to deny
the request, Jerome seconded, motion carried.
The next meeting, the annual meeting, will be held on June 15th at the Open
Door Cafe at 12:00 noon.
Election of Officers- The 2-3 year terms currently held by Brent Haberman
and Marsha Schelske are set to expire. We will entertain nominations from the floor or the incumbents may run.
The sign on the west side of Menno will need to be removed for the highway
project as it is too close to the right of way. It is wood and needs retouching
or replacement. Brent Haberman will take the sign down and Leroy Friesen
will remove the posts. Brent will check into repairs or replacement. A 4x8 board would cost $160. Could the city pay for the board and MADC for having it painted? Perhaps 2 boards for a bigger sign?
Shawn Black made a motion to adjourn the meeting, Brent Haberman seconded,
motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 12:40 PM
