Menno Area Development Corporation

Minutes of July 19, 2011 Meeting

The Menno Area Development Corporation met at the Open Door Café. Shawn Black called the meeting to order at 12:24 PM.

Judy Headley, Shannon Herrboldt seconded to approve the agenda

and the motion carried.

Teresa Anderson moved, and Darlene Mehlhaf seconded to approve

the minutes from the last meeting and the motion carried.

The financial report was read. Glenn Kirschenman moved and

Bill Headley seconded to approve the report and the motion carried.

Nancy Larsen presented her report.

The housing committee had nothing to report as the last scheduled

meeting did not occur. They are still looking to buy property.

Shawn reported that the membership drive will be moving forward.

Old Business-

Dues are due now-$10.00 per individual and $30.00 for businesses.

Digital sign-We need a committee member from the city.

Welcome Sign-We received 2 bids from Cindy Nelson, Garden

Gate LLC. No action taken.

The community guides look nice but information is missing on

Oktoberfest.

Shop at Home-David Bender was absent so there was no report

on what advertising will be done to promote this.

New Business-

Shawn reported on the CEDS committee meeting. It was

very informative.

Lot maintenance-Tom Ulmer sprayed the weeds on the highway

lot and will be spraying the weeds on the 5th St lot soon.

The Car Show date is September 10th and the Highway 50

Band will be providing music at the old Fire Station. At this

time, we will not be encouraging out-of-town vendors as we

want to promote our local church and civic organizations.

We do need to set guidelines for future inquiries.

SD Marketplace Workshop will be held in Huron next week.

Bill Headley made a motion to adjourn the meeting, which

was seconded by Teresa Anderson. The motion carried and the

meeting was adjourned at 1:00 PM.

Our next meeting will be held on August 16th at the

Open Door Café starting at noon.
