Gary Schelske took over Farmers Union Insurance in 1980 when the Menno representative left. He was at that time employed in Wagner, but his wife pushed him to move to Menno. The business started out small, in a little office, but started to grow after they started selling crop insurance. At first he financially struggled but the business can now support the two families that work there. The business went from just Gary working and not having enough to do: to him, his wife Marsha, and his son-in-law Johann Stokes working full time.

    Future Plans:

Schelske would like to keep growing and building a good solid business. After a few more years he would like to retire and leave the business to his children.
